Best purchase!
Amazing item! So glad I bought this for my plants!I keep carnivorous plants and consistently need to source low TDS scoring water. I live in a part of the uk where there is low rainfall and with the recent drought I purchased this to help save some money.First time I used it, it took 4Litres of tap water measuring with a TDS score of 400ppm and turned it into 4Litres of pure distilled water scoring 1ppm.It needs cleaning thoroughly with descaled after every use, to achieve consistent low TDS scores but that’s a small price to pay. HG limescale remover works perfectly. It’s easy to set up and use straight out of the box. It’s relatively quiet, I run it in the kitchen over night. But I’d say it’s an annoying volume if you were in the same room as it.

This Distiller is 1 of the most important appliances in my kitchen.!!
I already have this distiller myself and would be lost without it.!! I bought this one for my Daughter so she can also have good clean water for herself and my Grandaughter.!! She will be thrilled with it 😊

Very robust, good value, get a different water jug
This is my third counter top distiller, this one is great quality, robust and value for money. It's coated in robust plastic, which is a good option as I had issues with my last one rusting. It distills quicker than my last one which was more expensive. I do think it is slightly less in capacity though because its 4litres rather than 1 gallon. The only reason for the minus one star is that the water jug is very poor quality plastic, which would off leach into distilled water. Definitely invest in a better jug. Luckily I had two from my last distiller already, glass jugs are optimal, or at least better quality plastic. This model is much more robust, even than more expensive models however, I definity recommend it. The spout for example is stainless steel rather than plastic, the plastic spout on my last, more expensive model had fractured. Also the plug sockets are deeper and more highly engineered. Distilling is relatively simple technology you do not need to pay a lot, and it seems sometimes cheaper is better. This is an edit from when I first purchased it, it's now several months later, and time to replace the carbon filter. There are actually no clear instructions about how to do this, I unscrewed the top of the machine to try and loosen the filter chamber, but it seems to be welded in. OK alarm over, I figured it out, it does pull out, definitely do replace the carbon filter every couple of months, 3 months should be OK.For all info on distilled water search Andrew Norton Webber and Lisa Harrison on YouTube, it's a long and indepth and fully comprehensive conversation. Distillation takes EVERYTHING out and u are just left with pure water, it's 💯 the best thing to do if u want pure water. This is how nature does it in the rain cycle, evaporation. High quality reverse osmosis will make very clean water too, but will be way more expensive to set up, and expensive to replace the large filters.

(FIX) Plastic tasting water - manual - good distiller?
Edit: update on plastic tasteSo initially I assumed it was the Jug that gives that horrible taste, after much playing around I found out I was wrong, it wasn’t the jug what causes it.To put it briefly, it’s the trash left in the bottom. What the tank smells like, is what the water will taste like. It burns and cooks the leftover stuff which the smell then transfers to the water. So ways to stop this:1. As soon as you get this product, clean the inside (with soft sponge, don’t use hard bristles or wire). It will probably have the factory smell. Do not pour water into the lid as it will go into the condenser hole and deep clean the plastic jug while you’re at it. NOTE: they advise you use the distiller 3-5 times before you drink the water.2. After EVERY use, rinse the tank with water and wipe with a soft sponge (I don’t mean a deep clean with the provided salts). You don’t have to worry if there is grime left over, just so it doesn’t stink anymore. Again: Do not pour water into the lid as it will go into the condenser hole, but you can wipe it with a sponge.3. DO NOT leave it on until it’s finished/no water is left. If the tank gets empty, that’s when all the trash starts to singe leaving that horrible taste. I stop it just as the water reaches over the last line on the plastic jug.4. You’ll know when to use the provided salts for the deep clean (instructions in the manual); that’s once a normal rinse doesn’t remove the smell. These things may make the product more inconvenient to use but it solves the biggest customer problem. I think it just proves how horrible the tap water is where I am. I initially gave a 2 star review, assuming it was the jug and the business cheaping out, but after it tasting the same in glass I knew it couldn’t have been. I hope this helps someone who has this product/viewing it. I left it 5 star because it does work well and it’s not their fault my tap water is filthy, but they should be more clear with instructing customers in future.Anyway, I’m going to leave my old review; it’s funny because how wrong I was. There’s a little Karen in all of us.Old review:One thing to know, the plasticy taste that’s still stuck in throat, I’m assuming is from the jug . If that’s the case, then cheaping out on this clearly cheap jug is going to lose you business.First of I want to address one of the setup instructions in the manual as this is very misleading, it says “8. Do not use the first few(3-5)bottles of distilled water. It will take one distilling cycle for unit to self clean.” - this is unclear. Do you do it once or 3-5 times? If it means 3-5 times before drinking and just one after cleaning, don’t you think these two different points should be apart, Not stringed together? So I had a drink from the third distill and it tasted awfully plasticy. The taste is stuck in my throat and doesn’t feel pleasant. If it is the jug, then what are you thinking? People are going to judge the whole product on this bottleneck. Not only that but your customers are literally trying to get clean water that’s not contaminated, and you’re giving them a jug that does just that?!I’m going to keep trying and if the plastic taste goes away I will update my review, but warn customers that they will need to do more cycles before it’s safe, although you really should consider changing jugs or do a better job warning customers that they will need to clean it 5 times. If I have to buy myself a glass jug, then I will leave this review as it is Or if you want to contact me with a solution that I may have missed about the plastic jug, then feel free. I believe that the distiller itself is good. You would get more business if you didn’t offer this jug, as it would remove the bottleneck that’s getting you bad reviews and it’s contaminating your customers water. Although providing a glass jug would be better.

Excellent product, works great.
Quality. Use it all the time. I have a lot of house plants and distilled water is better for watering them then chlorinated tap water. Perfect for your iron as well, I live in a hard water area and no longer have lime spitting out. Design is compact.

Very dangerous and disappointing but good customer service
This is the second unit I have had, the first one I had was excellent and I broke it by dropping it. This one I've only had for about 3 weeks. The button never sat right and today something behind it blew and the buttons popped off all melted. It seems like a very dangerous machine. Not only that but the automatic turn off thermostat never worked either so I could only use it when I was in the house so it didn't boil dry. Next time I'll buy one with warranty!Edit; company dealt with the problem very quickly and offered a replacement and gave a full refund.
