Nothing to dislike. chess pieces are well made wood, weighted and have the felt pad on the bottom. good value for the money.

As a chess novice, had spent hours comparing details I had no experience with, such as weight of pieces. After touching and holding a neighbor's set pieces, I knew I wanted heavily weighted ones, but didn't know how to gauge that. In this set's Description, it should post that the pieces were "single weighted." I took a chance that they were double, so was disappointed that they weren't, but as a stone beginner will accommodate to weight and move merrily along. Craftsmanship on box, felt bases, and smoothness of wood is beautiful and pleasant to touch and eye. Can't wait to begin.

Honestly, not bad. My only complaint would be that the knight is completely crooked. I guess not that big of a deal but I did however pay $60 for wooden chess pieces.

At this pricepoint ($35 when purchased) I'm pretty please with the overall feel and look. The big caveats are that a decent amount of the pieces don't sit flat (either base weight is a little crooked or the felt is just bunched in some spots) and one of my rooks definitely missed the quality check part of the process. It's kinda lopsided and has some scratches on the base. Again, I'm keeping the set as I don't like the hassle of repacking, and replacement but just know you aren't getting a perfect set, a nice hobbyist set for sure though

This is a nice set for the money. The No5 with 3.5” king goes great with my board which has 2” squares. The pieces seem well crafted. There are a couple of spots, such as in the horse nostrils, and slit on top of the bishop where there were some rough edges with little bits of wood hanging on. I took a file and smoothed them out because I’m anal about things like that. My biggest complaint is that whatever they weight them with sticks out beyond the bottom on some pieces, causing them not to sit flat. One of the rooks is obviously tilted to one side and wobbles anytime it’s moved or bumped. This is annoying enough that I’m planning to grind them flush and re-felt the affected pieces. The box is nice enough. It’s just plain wood, I plan to give it a coat of semi-gloss varnish so it better matches my table, board, and pieces. It also doesn’t not some with felt on the bottom so you’ll need to add some as to not scratch your tabletop. At this price point, I wasn’t expecting luxury quality, I’m happy enough with this set.

This is a very good set for the price! It has reasonable details, feel, weight, proportions, and the pieces in the set I received are smooth and have a nice finish. Yes, you can get fancier sets, but expect to pay more than double what these cost. I am very happy with this set. The felt on the bases isn't the greatest, but wouldn't be difficult for me to do in the future if I want to. Great for daily use and nice for display as well. I recommend a board with minimum 1-7/8" squares.

Seems well made and nothing was broken or missing as some other reviewers noted. A bit weighted, not flimsy feeling. I wish the box was a bit bigger because you can only jumble together the pieces to fit rather than standing or organizing. It is rather roughly finished on the outside but I just wanted something to hold the pieces so its acceptable.

These wooden chess pieces are nicely crafted and have a nice weighted feel as well. Comes with 2 extra queens also. Very nice pieces for the price.

Fine execution of the classic Staunton, in a nice box. 'Nuff said.

Very pleased with this #5 set made from nicely stained and polished larch wood. Good detail in the pieces, with no discernible flaws. Slightly weighted, and with felt bottoms. An additional white and black queen is included for pawn promotions - a nice touch. Back in the day one had to depend on a captured rook and pawn to "Frankenstein" a promoted Queen. One bishop is just a tiny bit wobbly, likely because of the felt and/or glue not being perfectly levelled out. That being said, I can still gently flick the bishop and it still doesn't fall over, so a tiny and most likely fixable issue with the removal and reseating of the felt after a gentle sanding of the base of the piece. Its not a big deal so I probably won't.Fast delivery, solid packaging and the matching storage box is quite nice if treated with the same respect you would your pieces. Felted inside, with a compartment for each colour. Brass coloured metal clasp and hinges. Not heavy duty, but again, its not storing heavy duty drill bits.I researched a lot of sets before selecting this one, and have absolutely no regrets. You can't go wrong with this Husaria set.Ordered the same day I ordered the board, so all were packaged together in the same sturdy box and padding. Whether being played or just gracing the surface of a nice board, this is a recommended set for the #5 board, with pieces both technically correct and aesthetically pleasing. This is a set you can take pride in. Get this one.
